Free Internet access outdoors at the plaza
The Los Gatos Opera House, Town of Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce and town of Los Gatos reminds the public to join them at a Nov. 12 launch party to celebrate the introduction of wireless Internet access at the town plaza. People who own laptops with wireless Internet capabilities should come and test out their equipment at 10 a.m. The plaza marks the town's first free outdoor wireless Internet hot spot and is provided by the Opera House. Firetide, a Los Gatos-based company, is responsible for installing the antennas.
Turkey Day
comes early
for seniors
The town of Los Gatos looks forward to its annual senior Thanksgiving dinner at the neighborhood center at noon on Nov. 15. The food, which includes turkey and all the trimmings, is donated by local businesses and will be prepared by CB Hannegan's. Diners can win door prizes and get a head start on holiday shopping by visiting the center's craft boutique. Admission is free, but a donation of canned goods is appreciated. St. Luke's Episcopal Church welcomes donations for its Pantry Outreach Program.

Hospital raises
food for needy
Community Hospital of Los Gatos has pledged to match every pound of food donated through Nov. 17 with $1 from the Tenet Healthcare Foundation. All food and money will go toward Rescue Mission CityTeam Ministries, which provides food, shelter and other services to local families. Community Hospital is located at 815 Pollard Road.
Special meeting
to review plans
for Sobrato
The Los Gatos Planning Commission plans to hold a special joint meeting with the development review committee Nov. 18 to review plans for a 12.3-acre project on Winchester Boulevard near Highway 85. Sobrato Development Companies wants to modify its previously approved plans by reducing the size of its offices and increasing its housing units. The meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the council chambers, 110 E. Main St.
Reservoir Road
hearing moved
to Dec. 1
A controversial request by the San Jose Water Company to demolish a nonoperating reservoir and subdivide the land into four lots for future developments on Reservoir Road won't be considered by the Los Gatos Town Council until Dec. 1. Original plans were to hold a public hearing on Nov. 17.
