Sparks leads Panthers to win, wins Punt, Pass & Kick contest
By Dick Sparrer
Will Sparks provided the spark on the ground and Kyle Miller led the effort through the air as the Los Gatos Panthers rolled to a 26-0 win over the Cambrian Valley Longhorns in the Pop Warner Football playoffs.

Sparks carried 24 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns, including a 34-yard TD run, and Miller hooked up on 7 of 19 passes for 89 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown toss to Brandon Webster, to lead the Panthers to the victory.

Leading the charge up front offensively in the win were Michael Coombs, Jake Boetcher, Dan Ajlouni and Anthony Frediani.

The Panthers stopped the Longhorns cold with a solid defensive showing. Daniel Ajlione intercepted a couple of passes and Andrew Berg, Joey Vizzuzi and Miles Johannsen had one each. Johannsen ran back his pick 40 yards for a touchdown.

Jake Boetcher had a blocked punt among his defensive accomplishments in the game, and Johannsen, Chase Hayhurst, Matt Marcus and Matt Nicora were other defensive standouts.

The Panthers, who stopped Cambrian's six-game winning streak with the 26-0 victory, moved on to the Pop Warner pee wee division championship game with the win.
