As holiday fever heats up, Los Gatans can look to two events that will provide a break from busy shopping while supporting local causes.
On Dec. 7, Thomas Kinkade will unveil his second painting of a Los Gatos streetscape at the Los Gatos Calvary Christian Church from 4 to 8 p.m. The artist will be on hand to autograph prints previously purchased and those available at the event. This guest appearance is not only to unveil his latest work, but to help build the foundation of the new Los Gatos Morning Rotary Club, which will receive a portion of the proceeds from the event. The church is located at 16330 Los Gatos Blvd. For more information or to purchase a print, visit www.losgatos.thomaskinkade.com.
Also on Dec. 7, at 4 p.m., St. Luke's Episcopal Church is hosting flutist Roxanne Shoemaker as part of its Evensong Concert Series. After a sung service, Shoemaker will perform a medley of music, including pieces by Bach, John Corigliano, and John Rutter. Previously the flute and piccolo chair of the Honolulu Symphony for 23 years, Shoemaker now performs with the Trio St. Cecilia, as well as the Linfield Chamber Orchestra and Salem Chamber Orchestra in Oregon. The event is free; however, a freewill offering will be accepted. St. Luke's is located at 20 University Ave., Los Gatos. For more information call 408.354.2195.
