A merry Celtic celebration

Have yourself a merry little Celtic Christmas, with a Dec. 12 performance by Golden Bough. Drawing on traditional Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, and Wales, this three-piece band covers instrumental pieces to funny sing-a-longs and ballads. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Gatos United Methodist Church, located at 111 Church St. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $4 for children under 12. Tickets include refreshments at intermission, and may be purchased in advance at the church, at the event, or by calling 408.370.3037.

Lights are shining bright at Vasona

Thanks to the Santa Clara County Parks and Recreation Department and Silicon Valley Parks Foundation, Vasona Lake County Park is yet again hosting its massive "Fantasy of Lights" drive-through displays. Fantasy of Lights is open until Dec. 31 and offers 30 light displays, with some as tall as 60 feet. The cost is $13 per car on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, and $9 per car Monday through Thursday. Vasona Park is located on 333 Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos. Toys for Tots in the Bay Area

Coldwell Banker Northern California is teaming up with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for its annual Toys for Tots campaign. Local drop-off centers include Coldwell Banker Los Gatos North, at 449 N. Tree of wishes at Intero

Intero of Los Gatos will host a tree full of wishes for children as a sponsor of The Family Giving Tree. Adorning the tree will be an assortment of gift tags, each with a child's wish written on it. Individuals are encouraged to pick a tag and then donate the suggested gift. Wrapped or unwrapped presents will be accepted at the office until Dec. 12. The Intero office is located at 518 N. Santa Cruz Avenue, Los Gatos.

YSI is offering after-school winter classes

The Youth Science Institute of Los Gatos is gearing up for its winter season with a slew of after-school classes beginning in January at Vasona Lake Park. Registration is now being taken for several children's classes, which are $14 per child, per class, and held from 3:45 to 5 p.m. "Science Songbook," held Jan. 5­8, will explore science, nature and sound through songs and experiments. "Constellation Craze" will run Jan. 12­15 and discusses ancient legends about how the stars were named, and "Spun Together" will discuss the interconnected system of the food chain Jan. 20­23. Singing Shabbat service at Shir Hadash

Congregation Shir Hadash is hosting Friday Night Live, a public celebration of music, on Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. The Shir Hadash choir and Cantor Felder-Levy, backed by instrumental accompanists, will perform Shabbat music composed by Craig Taubman. For more information, call 408.358.1751.
