LGHS marching band and color guard a winner

The Los Gatos High School Wildcat marching band and color guard had a successful field competition season, with two first-place awards and one second, one third and one best-music-caption award.

This talented group of students will be performing at several events during the holidays, including one on Dec. 18 as they tour Los Gatos in a trolley car while performing Christmas carols.

The band has also been selected to perform at the East-West Shrine Game at Pac Bell Park on Jan. 10. Tickets to the game are available from Tricia Jemison at tricia474@comcast.net or by calling 408.354.2730 ext. 392. Ticket sales benefit the band as well as Shriner Children's Hospital.

Holiday treats and treasures at craft fair

C.T. English Middle School and the Loma Prieta Home and School Club are hosting their 2003 Holiday Craft Faire in the middle school's community center on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 50 local artisans will be selling handcrafted jewelry, pottery, toys and holiday gifts, plus ornaments, clothing, seasonal decorations and more. The proceeds from this annual event will benefit the Loma Prieta Joint Union Elementary School District.

In addition to the array of treasures, "Granny's Kitchen" will have treats that people can purchase and then eat as they shop.
