CineCats is seeking submissions

Anyone associated with Los Gatos who wants to break into the film biz, or at least entertain the locals, now has that chance as the annual film showcase CineCats seeks submissions.

Films in VHS format are due on Feb. 2, 2004, at 5 p.m., with selected movies screened on March 25 at the Los Gatos Cinema on N. Santa Cruz Avenue.

The contest is open to anyone currently living in or attending school in Los Gatos, anyone who attended Los Gatos schools or has a continuing connection to the community, or anyone who is enrolled in an art, drama or film class with the Los Gatos­Saratoga Recreation Department.

All submissions must be 25 minutes or less, including credits. The entry fee is $15, payable to the Los Gatos Community Foundation. Parents can learn cooking with children

Sur La Table on University Avenue is hosting a culinary class for families, entitled "Parents and Kids in the Kitchen," on Dec. 21 at 11 a.m.

The class covers meal planning, shopping, and cooking basics. Together, each adult-child pair will learn to make chicken mattone, potato gratin, and spiced ginger cake. The cost is $60 per pair. To register, call Sur La Table at 408.395.6946.
