Lucas named
president of
college board
Jack Lucas was elected president of the West ValleyMission Community College District board of trustees at a Dec. 11 board meeting, with Frank Jewett elected vice president.
West Valley College President Dr. Marchelle Fox, who is retiring this month, received a plaque of appreciation from the board members.
Lucas, the former Monte Sereno mayor who most recently served as vice president for the district, said he was flattered, surprised and honored to be elected president in a unanimous vote, after being on the board for only a year.
Paw de Chat will
host dance camp
for local kids
The dancers of the award-winning Los Gatos High School dance team Paw de Chat will host a dance camp for kids that will culminate in a performance at a varsity basketball game.
The camp is open to students in grades 25. Camp classes will be held Jan. 27 and 30 and Feb. 3 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with a performance at the basketball game on Feb. 6.
"Paw de Chat Winter Dance Camp 2004" is sponsored by Double D's Sports Grille, The Learning Game, Watergirl, Los Gatos Athletic Club, Naturino Los Gatos, The Tutoring Company and EmbroidMe. Proceeds from the event will help the team attend national dance competitions in Las Vegas and New York City this summer.
