Parent workshop

It's time for the baseball season to begin in the Los Gatos Little League—but not for the players, for the parents of prospective players.

The league will host its annual workshop for parents on Jan. 6, 6 p.m., at the Los Gatos Neighborhood Center, 208 E. Main St. The clinic, run in partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, is mandatory for all parents of players in the T-ball through major divisions.

The alliance is a Stanford-based nonprofit organization that stresses how "youth athletics presents a tremendous opportunity for athletes to develop life skills that will serve them well beyond the playing field," said Mark Carlquist, a spokesman for the Los Gatos Little League.

"The primary goal of the workshop will be to introduce the principles of the Positive Coaching Alliance to parents so that that they will understand and assist in the implementation of the program during the course of the Los Gatos Little League season," he added.

For more information, call Carlquist at 408.354.1955.
