Dr. Michael Riera

A parent education evening titled, "Instilling Integrity: How to Guide Our Children to be True to Themselves," will take place Jan. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Los Gatos High School auditorium for Los Gatos and Saratoga parents.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Michael Riera, best-selling author, award-winning columnist and national speaker on issues including parenting, families and adolescence. Riera has worked in schools for 19 years as a counselor, dean of students and a teacher.

The event is being sponsored by the Parent Education Council of the Los Gatos Union School District, Community Against Substance Abuse, the Parenting Continuum and the Gifted and Talented Education program. Admission is free. For more information, call 408.867.4943.

Paw de Chat will
host dance camp
for local kids

The dancers of the award-winning Los Gatos High School dance team Paw de Chat will host a dance camp for kids that will culminate in a performance at a varsity basketball game.

The camp is open to students in the second through fifth grades who love to dance or have always wanted to try moving with the latest music. Camp classes will be held Jan. 27, 30 and Feb. 3 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with a performance on the evening of Feb. 6 at the basketball game.

Proceeds from the event will help the team attend national dance competitions in Las Vegas and New York City this summer.
