at West Valley
Carl Saunders, a top trumpeter who has performed alongside jazz legends Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, will play tunes from his latest CD, Bebop Big Band, at West Valley College on Feb. 27. The show begins at 8 p.m. General admission is $20 and $15 for students and senior citizens. Before taking the stage, Saunders will give free lessons to aspiring musicians at 4:30 p.m. in room 12 of the music building. To purchase tickets, call 408.741.2096.

Comedians pair
up for a night
of laughter
Rabbi Bob Alper and Ahmed Ahmed will humor residents with their performance on Feb. 29 at Congregation Shir Hadash at 16555 Shannon Road. Both are widely recognized stand-up comedians.
In addition to authoring the books Life Doesn't Get Any Better Than This and A Rabbi Confesses, Alper has been featured on Showtime, Good Morning America and Extra. Meanwhile, Ahmed has appeared on ABC's The View and on Comedy Central. He was also a guest star on Roseanne and In Living Color.
The show begins at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
