students win
Rotary awards

Three Los Gatos High School students won awards for a public-speaking contest hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Gatos. Students in the competition were required to give a five-minute speech on the topic of teamwork.

Student Chelsea Starr, who will attend Cal Poly­San Luis Obispo next year, won first place and $100 for her speech on the current demise of honoring teamwork; Julie Cone won second place and $50 for her speech on how teamwork could solve the problem of junk mail; and Ina Soh won third place for her speech on what teamwork means.

Red Cross
will hold
blood drive

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive March 2 in Hoffman Hall at St. Mary's Church, 219 Bean St., from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Blood donors must be age 17 or older, weigh more than 110 pounds and enjoy general good health. To make an appointment, call 1.800.GIVE.LIFE.

Under 21 Club
opens March 14
at Bar and Grill

The Under 21 Club will present a teen nightclub March 14 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Los Gatos Bar and Grill. The club is open to any high school student with valid school identification. The club has a maximum limit of 200 people. Live music, food, a lounge area, big screen television and pool tables will all be available. There is a $5 entrance fee. The Los Gatos Bar and Grill is located at 15 1/2 N. Santa Cruz Ave. For more information, email under21club@comcast.net.
