AAUW to relive
women's history
during March

The Los Gatos, Saratoga and San Jose branches of the American Association of University Women will celebrate women's history month on March 27 with "Portraits of the Past," a presentation honoring significant figures throughout the Santa Clara Valley who have made a difference in communities. The presentation, performed by volunteers of the History San Jose Museum, takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the San José City College Theater, 2100 Moorpark Ave. in San Jose. Admission is free.

LGHS brings the
Bard's comedy
to life on stage

Los Gatos High School's performing arts department will present Kiss Me, Kate on March 5, 6,12 and 13 at 8 p.m., and March 11 at 7 p.m. in the Prentiss Brown Auditorium, 20 High School Court.

The spring musical is being directed and co-produced by Dan Harris, a 2001 Los Gatos High graduate, and co-produced by Diana Pleasant, the performing arts department chairwoman who is also serving as music director. Kathleen Wehr, an English teacher and former professional dancer, is choreographing the performance. In addition, the talented cast is headed by American Musical Theatre award-winner Laney Chinn, in the roll of "Kate."

Kiss Me, Kate is one of Broadway's most beloved musicals, derived from William Shakespeare's comedy Taming of the Shrew.
