Allan spends
winter term
in France

Katherine Allan of Los Gatos studied French abroad in Toulouse, France, during the winter 2004 term as part of Dartmouth College's language study-abroad program.

Allan is the daughter of Steven Allan and Charlene Lemann. Dartmouth College, located in Hanover, N.H., offers 44 off-campus programs in 17 countries designed to expand the college's curriculum into new areas of academic and cultural understanding.

Los Gatos High
opens up a
new building

Los Gatos High School celebrated the grand opening of a new building on campus March 2. Construction began in February 2003, and the new wing, which is attached to the administrative building, features 21 classrooms on three floors. The 35,000-square-foot building houses the math and world language departments, and includes computer labs and staff break rooms. The ceremony was attended by school board members, the construction oversight committee, teachers, students and members of the community. Principal Trudy McCulloch gave the opening remarks.

Rolling Hills
Middle School
takes 1st place

The second-period, seventh-grade art students at Rolling Hills Middle School in Los Gatos placed first in the Long's Drugs Marine Lab art contest. The students created an oil pastel sea lion grid composite piece. Their piece was entered in the group art category.
