Construction on sewer line in downtown area to begin
By Nisha Ramachandran
Retail shops and restaurants on N. Santa Cruz Avenue will once again have to contend with maintenance work outside their doors, while a sewer line is upgraded.

The West Valley Sanitation District plans to begin work in early March on an existing sewer line running down N. Santa Cruz Avenue between Main Street and SaratogaLos Gatos Road.

District officials said the line is one of the oldest in Los Gatos and needs to be replaced before the town begins construction on N. Santa Cruz Avenue in the next year.

The process consists of installing a new pipe inside the existing line.

Crews will work from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. to minimize disruptions to the surrounding area, although there may be some traffic detours, minor delays, construction noise and temporary loss of parking on N. Santa Cruz Avenue during the project.
