Evans Kuhlman
William Evans Kuhlman, 75, died on Feb. 14 after a hard-fought battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.
Born on Sept. 14, 1928, to Ed Kuhlman and Gretchen Evans, Kuhlman grew up in Manchester, Iowa. He received his medical degree at the University of Iowa, where he met his future wife, Barbara Lewis.
After joining the Air Force and completing his rotational internship at Riverside, Calif., Kuhlman and his wife moved to Campbell, where he practiced medicine for 42 years. In 1975, he was appointed chief of staff for the Los Gatos Community Hospital.
While maintaining his practice in Campbell, Kuhlman and his wife moved to Monte Sereno. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara, a daughter, Kris Saba, a son-in-law and two grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sons, Robert and Kevin Kuhlman. For more information about Kuhlman or to share a story, visit johnsaba.home.mindspring.com/kuhlman.
