Jessica Sansevere and Katie Bonadies spent most of the season on opposite ends of the field for the Los Gatos girls soccer team. But when it came time for the all-league selections in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League, the two Wildcats found themselves side-by-side.
Sansevere and Bonadies were both among the special honors winners when the De Anza Division coaches named their all-league team for the recently completed 200304 season.
Sansevere, a senior, was selected as the division's Goalkeeper of the Year and Bonadies was named the league's Sophomore of the Year after the two led the Wildcats to a berth in the Central Coast Section playoffs.
The Gatos pair topped a list of seven girls and three boys from Los Gatos on all-league teams in the De Anza Division.
Senior Ashley Dix and juniors Ashley Benson and Morgan Branon were Gatos girls named to the all-league first team and sophomores Monica Rude and Melissa Shawhan were each picked to the second team. Rude was the division's Freshman of the Year in 200203.
The Wildcats opened the CCS Division I playoffs with a 4-1 win over San Benito, but lost a game later 1-0 to Aptos to face elimination. The Cats finished the year with an 11-5-4 season record and boast a solid nucleus of players returning for the 200405 season.
Juniors Corynn Carino and Carrie Gordon, sophomores Janelle Carino, Jacqui Kemp, Elizabeth Magna, Ali Rubnitz and Carly Stavis and freshmen Sofie Lynn and Samantha Mason will join Benson, Branon, Rude and Shawhan as top returners for the Cats next winter.
Along with Sansevere and Dix, seniors playing their final season for Gatos this past year were Stacy Adams, Stephanie Clark, Cheryl Parkman, Allison Thomas and Brittney Shand.
Los Gatos boys winning all-league first team spots were Andrew Perkins and Steve Whitham. Alex Fincher grabbed a spot on the all-league second team. Perkins and Whitman had won all-league first team honors the year before and Fincher was on the second team.
