Library will
offer lectures
The PlaneTree Health Library will hold four free seminars in April on various topics associated with aging. Speakers include Roberta and Tom Johnson, who will be discussing their experience dealing with a stroke survivor; Tami Anastasia, a counselor and exercise coach; Leigh Weimers, a prostate cancer survivor; and Joan Perry, who will address the challenge of raising financial resources to meet health costs.
The event is free, but seats are limited and reservations are required. The lectures are offered each Saturday in April from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Call 408.358.8483.
Local police
officers earn
promotions
Two Los GatosMonte Sereno police officers were promoted to new positions last week. Officer Randy Rimple was promoted to the rank of sergeant and Sergeant David Gravel was promoted to the rank of captain.
Rimple, a 1974 graduate of Los Gatos High School, has spent more than 25 years in law enforcement. He began his career with the Santa Clara Police Department and has worked in the Kern County Sheriff's Office and in the Watsonville Police Department. He has served in the regional auto theft task force as a detective with the Los GatosMonte Sereno Police Department.
Gravel has spent more than 23 years with the department, beginning his career in 1980 as a reserve police officer. He has worked a number of assignments within the department, including field training and as traffic sergeant. He will replace Captain Duino Giordano, who is retiring from the department.
