LGHS students
earn top honors
at science fair
They measured the effect of hot-tub vapor on fruit flies, discovered a better way to protect marble from acids and tested a soil additive to help plants survive saltwater stress. For their efforts, four Los Gatos High School students—senior Sally Stanton, and sophomores Todd Karin, Jon Gelber and Jason Stein—earned grand-prize awards at the Synopsys Silicon Valley Science and Technology Championship awards ceremony held at Paramount's Great America on April 4. Sally and Todd earned an all-expenses paid trip to the California State Science Fair in Los Angeles, while Jon and Jason were selected to join students from around the world in presenting their team project May 815 at the International Science Fair in Portland.
Other award recipients included LGHS seniors Alyssa Perotti and Brandon Silberstein; juniors Josh Kling and Sam Richards; sophomore Don Gaspar; freshman Chad Manning; and their teacher Vicki Wendell. LGHS was also awarded one of four outstanding-school awards and received a check for $1,000.
