Nakata named
volunteer of the
year for 2004

The Los Gatos Union School District board members selected Sandy Nakata, co-president of the Los Gatos Education Foundation, for the Volunteer of the Year award for 2004.

"Sandy is the kind of person who gets things done and then doesn't take the glory," said LGUSD Superintendent Mary Ann Park during the award ceremony at an April 7 school board meeting. Nakata's family and friends attended the meeting in support of her recognition, and Nakata received a standing ovation from the audience for her dedication to Los Gatos schools.

In her many years of service to schools within the district, Nakata has been a classroom volunteer, helped in computer labs and libraries and assisted with science activities. She organized last year's science fair at Raymond J. Fisher Middle School.

Nakata was recognized by having her name added to a plaque, which will be on display at the district office. This is Nakata's last year as a parent in the district.
