PG&E deserves
praise, not
criticism

I think it's time that we, as consumers, praise PG&E for its outstanding service to the public. Their employees are always there when we need them, risking their lives to help us all. I have never seen a utility company as personable, understanding and just simply human in their caring as PG&E is.

In this time of job loss and financial crisis that we are all faced with, PG&E has always been there for us and has always been willing to bend and help whenever it could. To us, as local and lifetime residents, we need to thank PG&E for loyal service to us and dedication to helping us all in times of crisis.

It's really disheartening to hear petty complaints they don't deserve. They really work very hard and try even harder to please us all, and they should be commended for this and not targeted. They are the best of the best!

Downtown is
turning into
a mall

Thank you, DeCinzo, for your pictorial commentary in the April 14 issue of the Los Gatos Weekly-Times, clarifying for the town council why some people think downtown Los Gatos is a mall.

In the same issue of the paper, under "Town News," it is reported in the Cold Stone Creamery article that one council member took offense at the downtown being called a mall. Another member claims that the acceptance of another formula food operation was a matter of policy making. What kind of policy, I wonder, when the General Plan review committee asked that the central business district be reduced in intensification and use?

A classic example of another lost opportunity to reduce traffic and provide more parking. Coldstone will have five employees and the Lyndon Plaza dedicates two spaces for the entire operation. We were under no obligation to continue the high-intensity use of this corner for restaurant use, especially to a chain-store formula operation. We could have eliminated one restaurant-use permit in the central business district and reduced traffic and provided parking relief.

Council members need to stand back and take a good look at the mall they claim is not a mall.

Zieman second,
not first, in
Great Race

I wanted to clarify that Kevin Pierpoint was the winner of the Great Race, not I. The chip timing did indicate that I had a faster time from when I crossed the mat at the start and finish. That is an error in how the race was conducted.

Kevin and I both started in the front and ran together the entire way. Kevin was able to outsprint me down the straight to the finish to win by about one second.

It was great racing against Kevin head-to-head all the way to the finish, and a well-run race to boot. I just wanted to clarify who actually won the race.
