Rachel Barnett, a 2002 graduate of Los Gatos High School and a member of the dance team at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, took first place with her team at the National Dance Alliance National Dance Championship. The 20-member team competed against 17 teams from other U.S. colleges and universities.

Barnett is a sophomore at HPU, majoring in business administration. She has been dancing since preschool and attended Blossom Hill Elementary School and Raymond J. Fisher Middle School, growing up in Los Gatos. She is the daughter of Jeffrey and Annemone Barnett of Los Gatos.

Carnival and fair is coming to Westmont High

Westmont High School's Parent-Teacher Association is sponsoring a spring carnival and fair April 30­May 2. The event will take place on April 30 from 3 to 11 p.m., May 1 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and May 2 from noon to 10 p.m.

Los Gatos kids
in musical
production

Several Los Gatos children will take part in a musical production, Once on This Island, from May 14 to 23. Hosted by the Children's Musical Theater, the production will take place in the Montgomery Theater, 291 S. Market St. in downtown San Jose.
