Library receives
McClendon
estate gift

The Los Gatos Library received $80,000 from the estate of Elizabeth "Betty" McClendon to improve its children services. McClendon was the daughter of a former Los Gatos librarian. Friends said that McClendon would visit her mother at work every day after attending the former University Avenue School in Los Gatos. McClendon died on July 21.

Library director Peggy Conaway said that the library board would decide how best to use the donation, but that the library wanted to do something special with the money. The library is also slated to receive an additional $20,000 gift once McClendon's estate is fully settled.
