DMV will close
for renovations
from June to Oct.

Going to the DMV—already an experience some would pass up in favor of dental surgery without Novocain—will become slightly less convenient this summer. The Los Gatos office, which handles more than 12,000 transactions each month, will close at the end of the day on June 18 for renovations.

The 20 employees from the office will be temporarily relocated to other local offices as needed. Until the office reopens Oct. 25, customers will be redirected to offices in Santa Clara, San Jose, Capitola, Redwood City and Fremont. Many transactions may be completed either by mail or online at www.dmv.ca.gov.

Under 21 Club
to host event
at Roasting Co.

The Under 21 Club, an offshoot of the "Alive ... and Loving Life" movement, is holding its second event at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company on June 4 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. The night—supported by Roasting Company owner Teri Hope and organized by club leaders including Los Gatos High School sophomore Jacqui Kemp and Leigh senior Negin Saei—will feature live music, food and drinks for $5, as well as a free first cup of coffee.

Open-space
hike will go up
St. Joseph's Hill

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District will facilitate a "scenic aerobic hike" of St. Joseph's Hill on June 9. Docents Bernie Larkin and Stella Young will lead the moderately paced, 4- to 5-mile hike from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet in the parking lot of the Forbes Mill Museum at 75 Church St.
