Bryce Byrd, 15, who will enter his junior year this fall at Los Gatos High School, has been selected to serve on the 200405 WB20 student council for a one-year term. The cable television station KBWB-WB20, the Bay Area's WB affiliate, recently announced that the new six-member panel—including Bryce—represents high schools from San Francisco, San Bruno, San Jose, Los Gatos, San Rafael and Danville.
Bryce's selection process included the submission of an essay, panel interviews and screen tests. He is on the student council at Los Gatos High and is involved in the leadership class and Key Club, which is a community-service organization.
The WB20 student council was launched in 2003 as a peer-to-peer community-outreach platform for teens. The council addresses teen issues and possible solutions, while presenting them to their peers as public-service announcements. Topics range from drugs, suicide and drinking and driving, to violence, teen relationships and character. The new student council PSAs will begin airing this month.
