Steven J. Honholt
Steven John Honholt, 38, formerly of Los Gatos, died in a motorcycle accident on Aug. 6 in La Honda, Calif. Honholt was born in Palo Alto and raised in Los Gatos. He later moved to La Honda. He was attending Palmer College of Chiropractic West and graduated from UC-Berkeley with a degree in psychology. Honholt spent many hours volunteering at Hidden Villa wilderness preserve and hostel, helping children, families and others.
He is survived by his parents, Bradley and June Honholt; his brother, David Honholt; his wife, Kathy Honholt; niece and nephew Stephanie and Gregory Honholt; his sister Cynthia Honholt and her son, Brian Borghetti; and his sister Kathleen Honholt.
Donations can be sent in his name to Hidden Villa with attention to Shannon McEntee at 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills, 94022. A memorial to celebrate Honholt's life will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at 20 University Ave., Los Gatos on Aug. 27 at 2 p.m.
Lois E. Wallace and Homer 'Mel' Wells
Lois Wallace and her husband Homer "Mel" Wells died on July 21 at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev. from injuries suffered in a single vehicle accident that took place on July 10. Lois and Homer had lived in the Greenhorn Ranch area of Plumas County since 1993, and had previously lived in Los Gatos for 27 years.
Lois Mary O'Connor was a fourth-generation San Franciscan, daughter of Leslie and Grace O'Connor. She graduated from UC-Berkeley at the age of 20 with a degree in business administration. She taught elementary school for many years in the San Jose Unified and Franklin-McKinley school districts and took early retirement in 1982. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Glenn Wallace. She is survived by her five children: Grace Ferris and her husband Harry; James Elder and his wife Rebecca; Mary Fisher and her husband Bruce; Laurel Mann and her husband Seth; and Todd Elder.
Homer Daniel Wells was the son of Sherman and Helen Wells and was born in Minneapolis, Minn. He had a background in accounting, sold real estate in southern California and was a professional member of the Musician's Union.
The couple met on board a cruise ship where Homer was a piano player, and they married in 1993.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin, and two sisters, Shirley and Sue. He is survived by his stepchildren, Grace, Jim, Mary, Todd and Laurel; his nieces Barbara and Sue; several grandnieces and nephews; and his dog Bobby.
