Gerald Argall

Gerald H. Argall, 74, of Los Gatos died Jan. 15 at Kaiser Hospital in San Jose.

Argall was a lifelong resident of Los Gatos. He worked for the town of Los Gatos for 35 years, and was also a local volunteer fireman and reserve policeman.

He is survived by his wife Neva Argall and his son Jonathan Argall of Los Gatos, his daughter Vicky Gino of Austin, Texas, and three grandchildren.

Donations can be made in Argall's name to the Juvenile Diabetes Society, 221 Second St., Second Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105.

Shirley Stoner

Shirley Stoner, 85, a longtime Los Gatos resident, died Feb. 16.

Born in New York City, Stoner attended Smith College, graduating summa cum laude. She worked for the U.S. Treasury Department during World War II before pursuing graduate studies in economics, first at the New School of Social Research in New York and later at Stanford University. She then went on to serve as an instructor in economics at San José State University for many years.

She married Norman Stoner in 1946 in New York City and they moved to California. Active in community affairs, Stoner was a member of the American Association of University Women and a board member of the Los Gatos Community Concerts Association.

She is survived by her husband Norman of Los Gatos; her son Robert Stoner of Berkeley; her son Martin Stoner of New York City; her son Douglas Stoner of Fayetteville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 18 at Congregation Shir Hadash in Los Gatos. Contributions can be made in her name to Smith College or to the Beethoven Center at San José State University.
