April is "Keep Los Gatos Beautiful Month," and the town has planned several activities centered on that theme.
The Los Gatos High School Rotary Interact Club will lead a campus clean-up day April 23 from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school. Club members and volunteers will remove weeds, plant flowers, wash windows and do other clean-up activities as necessary. Volunteers are asked to bring their own gardening gloves and tools. For more information, contact club adviser Tonya McQuade at 408.354.2730, ext. 368.
The Santa Clara County Household Hazardous Waste Program will conduct a thermometer swap April 24 at the farmers market at the corner of Main Street and N. Santa Cruz Avenue. Mercury thermometers in plastic, Ziploc-style bags can be brought and exchanged for new non-mercury thermometers.
Los Gatos also will be celebrating its 25th year as an official "Tree City USA" on Arbor Day. The town will host festivities beginning at noon on April 29 at Oak Meadow Park. The park is located at the northeast corner of University Avenue and Blossom Hill Road.
The Los Gatos Town Library will have Earth Day giveaways available throughout the month. Earth Day is April 22.
