Group helps concert association end season on a different note

The Los Gatos Community Concert Association has decided to go out with a bang for the final performance of its 2004-05 season.

Moving away from what has been an entirely classical lineup for all of the previous concerts this season, the association has booked Woods Tea Company for its final event on Mother's Day, May 8.

Woods Tea Company is a Vermont-based foursome that fills performances with a unique blend of lively folk and bluegrass music, peppered with a few haunting Celtic ballads. The four musicians are known for their vocal harmonies and skillful musicianship, sometimes pulling out as many as 12 different instruments during a single performance. However, members Chip Chase, Mike Lussen, Howard Wooden and Rusty Jacobs are equally known for their "parched New England wit" and dry humor, which can often be as entertaining as the songs they play.

The concert is at 2:30 p.m. at Los Gatos United Methodist Church, and the Los Gatos Community Concert Association encourages residents to celebrate Mother's Day by making the show a family affair.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Ray Strong at 408.377.1106 or Lea Frey at 408.356.5698. Visit www.lgcca.org for more information. Los Gatos United Methodist Church is located at 111 Church St. in Los Gatos.
