Saratoga never had a chance against Los Gatos Pony in the Memorial Day Weekend Tournament a couple of weeks back. Saratoga and Los Gatos sent two teams each into the three-game tourney played on May 30, and both Saratoga teams were eliminated quickly.
Los Gatos team one opened the tournament with an 8-6 win over Saratoga team. Colin Chapman belted a single and had two RBIs for Los Gatos and Hendee Wall ripped a single and scored a run, but it was Josh Yun who swung the big bat for Los Gatos. Yun crushed two triples and a double to drive in two runs. Nate Aguiar also doubled and drove in two runs.
Los Gatos team two defeated Saratoga team two 11-5. Jason Shepardson ripped two singles and drove in a run, Jake Scullion singled and drove in three and Travis Bonner had a base hit and an RBI for Los Gatos.
Los Gatos team one eventually faced and beat Los Gatos team two 13-5. Ryan McGee roped two singles for team one and had an RBI. Chapman hammered out three singles and a double and had an RBI, Yun had two base hits and three RBIs, Wall singled twice and drove in two, Brian Comstock singled and drove in two and Aguiar had two singles and two RBIs.
Team two players didn't have as much success with their bats, but they did put some hits together. Scullion ripped three singles and had an RBI, Hank Hansen doubled twice and drove in two, Bonner had an RBI and Shepardson crushed a home run in the loss.
Members of the Los Gatos team one included Aguiar, Kevin Cage, Billy Cardia, Colin Carney, Chapman, Comstock, Sean Harrington, Kyle Johnson, Matt Kirwan, Chris LaBouff, McGee, Mickey Mitchell, Brian Rose, Wall and Yun.
Team two players from Los Gatos were Chris Bitter, Bonner, Stefan Eckhardt, Hansen, Houston Hibberd, Matthew Horton, Kevin Murphy, Jason O'Brien, Derek Rodrigues, Scotty Ryvola, Scullion, Shepardson, Alex Silva, Ryan Stillwell.
In regular season play, Aguiar was on the mound for three innings for the Yankees against the A's on June 3. In those innings he struck out five, and during the game ripped three singles, including a home run, and he drove in three runs in the Yanks' 11-2 victory.
Aguiar wasn't the only one hitting, though. Andy Furia hammered out a single and had two RBIs, Jordan Dombrowsky roped a single and drove in one and both Jake Cathey and Jeffrey Clark had singles.
Corey Lanagan crushed a double and Carter Krach had a base hit for the A's in the loss.
The Saratoga White Sox defeated the Marlins 10-2 on June 2. Anthony DeCarvalho ripping a single, a double and driving in a run for the Marlins.
The Astros crushed the Saratoga Red Sox 7-0 on June 1 thanks to Brian Comstock's performance on the mound, throwing five shutout innings for the Astros.
The Giants and the A's faced each other on June 1 with the Giants finishing with an 8-7 victory after scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Chapman had a single, a double and drove in two for the Giants. Brendan Crane ripped a single and a double and both Nate Burke and Joe Vizzusi crushed two singles in the win. Carney struck out seven batters in only three innings on the mound for the Giants.
Chase Svendsen was the big hitter for the A's, belting two doubles and driving in a run, while Harrison Chadwick and Stillwell had a base knock and an RBI each. Jermel Ladd added a double in the loss.
The Cubs and the Giants met on June 1 to settle an old score when they finished a game called for darkness May 14 tied 10-10. The Cubs ended up taking the 11-10 win after scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh.
LaBouff led the offensive attack for the Cubs, belting three singles and driving in three runs. Alex Hamacher also had a base hit and two RBIs, Scotty Ryvola and Matt Goldberg both had a single and a double and Kevin Rose had a base knock in the win.
Chapman ripped two singles, a double and drove in four runs for the Giants, while Ryan Martin doubled and drove in a run, Carney singled and drove in two, Crane ripped two singles and drove in one and Vizzusi singled and had an RBI.
The Saratoga White Sox defeated the Saratoga Cardinals 4-3 and the Saratoga A's bested the Red Sox 13-6 on May 31.
Yun doubled for the Red Sox in the loss, while Hansen ripped a single, a triple and drove in a run. Tim Garvey also had three base knocks and two RBIs for the Sox.
