St. Mary's 50th
anniversary
a great time
Thank you to all the volunteers and organizers at St. Mary's School for the 50th anniversary party. What a great time. I can't believe all of the effort that was made to dig up those so very old photos, momentos and class pictures. I can't believe we were ever that young.
It was wonderful to see the sisters and so many classmates. It's really touching that so many people contributed to make for such a memorable event. On behalf of all St. Mary's School alumni—many, many thanks.

Paying tribute
to the talents
of Rick Tharp
The Los Gatos arts commissioners wish to pay tribute to the genius and generosity of graphic designer Rick Tharp for his commitment to the ascetic contributions evidenced throughout our town. In particular, we are grateful for his recent design works, which include the new Music in the Park logo used on our summer concert series ads, programs, posters and the street banners currently hanging along Highway 9 and Lark Avenue gateways into Los Gatos.
In addition, the Historic Downtown "Welcome" banners and the Los Gatos Boulevard banners displaying Rick's original "Los Gatos Wildcat" silhouette adorn our community today. Even the new official town street signs were his design.
We realize these are but a few examples among a lifetime of work exemplifying the talent Rick shared with our community over the past three decades. We remember Rick's logo, Tharp Did It, and we add our own remembrance: "Rick Tharp, you did it so very well."

West Valley faculty plans to
work to contract
The faculty at West Valley College and Mission College intend to "work to contract" beginning with the upcoming term. This involves reduction of faculty services to students, such as minimum office hours, minimum availability and so forth. Details of the plan can be found on the Internet, by searching for "ACE work to contract" (without the quotes). ACE is the faculty union.
Students intending to enroll at either of these colleges, particularly those who believe that they may need access to faculty, may wish to take this into account.
