Tharp memorial service planned for July 14 at The Opera House
By Lisa Toth
A memorial service is being planned in honor of Rick Tharp, a renowned graphic designer who worked in the Los Gatos community for about 30 years. There are reports Tharp may have ended his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge on June 4.

Stephanie Paulson, a close friend representing the family, said the memorial service has been set for July 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at The Opera House, 140 W. Main St. The reception will be an opportunity for people who knew Tharp to gather and socialize. The program will serve as a way for people to share their thoughts and stories about Tharp.

However, Tharp's situation still being treated as an open missing persons case until his body is found. A death warrant has yet to be issued, Paulson said, and Tharp's case is being placed under a five-year conservatorship.

Updates about Tharp's case can be found at www.wadc.org. For more information, Stephanie Paulson can be reached at spaulson@stephenz.com.
