Nicholas William Blasgen entered a guilty plea in federal court June 21 in connection with a fake identification ring and child pornography found on computers in his apartment.
Blasgen, 23, is a recent UC-Davis graduate who spent summers in Los Gatos with relatives. He was arrested in April 2003 in connection with a fake-ID ring involving other Davis students and one at Arizona State University.
The investigation is believed to be among the largest involving license fraud in the Department of Motor Vehicle's history, according to a press release from the state attorney general's office.
Blasgen was allowed to complete his economics degree at Davis this past month but, upon pleading guilty to a child pornography offense, he was returned to jail June 21 to await sentencing.
Blasgen pleaded guilty to producing and transferring document-making implements, criminal forfeiture and possession of material containing images of child pornography, which is defined as children under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Blasgen will be sentenced on Aug. 30. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
