Thomas Sim
Thomas Sim, 91, a longtime Los Gatos resident, died June 28.
Sim was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and later moved to Los Gatos, where he lived for more than 50 years.
Sim was a carpenter, and active in many town clubs and organizations. He was both a lifeguard and a fisherman. He helped found the Los Gatos Volunteer Fireman program and served as one of its captains, and was a master Mason, helping to build the Masonic Hall in downtown Los Gatos. He was also a member of the Sciots and Carpenters Union Local 2006.
Sim is survived by his wife, Isobel Sim; son, Thomas Sim; daughters, Margaret Hokeness, Joanne Courtney and Janice Tracy; brothers, George and James Sim of British Columbia; son-in-law, Steve Tracy; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life was held on July 6 in Los Gatos.
