It's not an "art and wine festival." In Los Gatos, it's "Fiesta de Artes." It just sounds more festive, and that's probably because it is.
Los Gatos will fill the Civic Center grounds to its very edges for two full days, Aug. 13 and 14, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For more than three decades, the Fiesta de Artes has drawn hundreds of artists, vintners, microbrewers, entertainers and merchants to celebrate and cater to the tens of thousands of visitors that show up from all over the San Francisco Bay Area, year after year. It's a weekend full of music, art, crafts, food and wine, set to the tunes of several live bands.
For 2005, Fiesta de Artes is made possible by the Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos, which just celebrated its 80th anniversary this year. Members of the Kiwanis Club will be on hand at the event selling custom-designed, commemorative wine glasses, with all proceeds benefiting local charities. Other sponsors this year include Bargetto Winery, Chateau Julien, J. Lohr, Thomas Fogarty Winery, Testarossa Vineyards, Gordon Biersch, 94.5 FM KBAY radio, 106.5 KEZR radio and, for the first time, 1220 AM KNTS radio and 1100 AM KFAX radio.
So, no need to trek to Gilroy or Mountain View for a celebration—come on out and join the Fiesta, right here in Los Gatos.
