Having a Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association Passport is like having a backstage pass to a concert--areas usually blocked off suddenly open their doors to let you in.
Likewise, a passport grants its holder access to more than 50 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries that are usually closed to the public, and the last Passport event of the season is coming up on Nov. 19.
Once a passport is purchased--for only $25--it is good for life, at any passport event. Additionally, a passport is worth $25 at Sent Sovi restaurant in Saratoga.
The more than 50 wineries participating in the Nov. 19 Passport event vary in size, from the small boutique winery to the large and commercial. Just a few of the wineries on the list for Nov. 19 are Burrell School Vineyards and Winery on Summit Road, Silver Mountain Vineyards on Miller Cut-Off Road, Windy Oaks Estate Vineyards and Winery in Corralitos and Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard, which has been making wine since 1863, when it was called the Jarvis Brothers Vineyard.
Passport holders can grab a map and visit the long list of wineries at their leisure for this event, which goes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets and more information are available online at www.scmwa.com.
