Love is in the Air: Founder and emcee Miriam Sachs Martin welcomes the crowd to the monthly Fierce Words Tender open mic event at the SisterSpirit Bookstore on The Alameda. Martin keeps the open mic event women-only, because she theorizes that because men tend to be less shy about performing their work, if they were allowed to share the mic at Fierce Words Tender, some women would never speak up at all.
