Bells at Top-8

Bellarmine's Scott Bogdanoff soared to a 42-8.5 in the triple jump to finish sixth in the boys varsity division at the Central Coast Section Top-8 Meet held April 23 at Los Gatos.

Grigore Key supported with a 10thh in the pole vault at 13.0 and Hanoki Rodriguez was 13thh in the 300-meter hurdles. The Bells were also ninth in the 4x100 relay.

Napoleon Greene placed in a pair of events for the Bells in frosh-soph competition at the CCS Top-8 Meet. He was second in the long jump with a 20-0.75 effort, and he also finished fourth in the triple jump at 41-8.75 with teammate Phil Petro fifth at 41-4.5

Andreas Orbal breezed to a second-place finish in the 65-meter hurdles in 9.43 and Jesse Cole sprinted to a second in the 100 in 11.54. Cole also helped the Bells to a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay in 45.27.

Andrew Citores pitched the shot put 45-9.5 to finish third, and Brian Handy was fifth in the high jump at 5-6.

Track meet

The San Jose City-Wide Youth Track Meet for boys and girls ages 9­14 will be held May 23, 8 a.m.­3 p.m., at Evergreen Valley High School. The meet will include running and field events. There is no entry fee.

Hall of Fame

Lincoln High School athletic director Kevin Collins has announced that the school plans to reestablish its Athletic Hall of Fame. An induction dinner is scheduled for Aug. 21 at Lou's Village in San Jose.

Those interested in nominating an athlete for Hall of Fame recognition can find a form on the school's website at www.lincolnhighsanjose.org—click on booster club to find the Hall of Fame induction form. Nominations should be faxed to Collins at 408.535.2352 and are due by May 15.

"We've had it in years past," said Collins of the Hall of Fame. "We just want to bring back a little flavor of the past."

Kiwanis golf tourney

The Almaden Valley Kiwanis will host a Youth Charities Golf Tournament on May 7 on the tournament course at the Coyote Creek Golf Course. Registration begins at 11 a.m. on the day of the tourney with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. in the 4-person scramble event.

The registration fee of $140 per player includes green fees, a cart, a box lunch, dinner, awards and a raffle. Awards will be presented to the team winner and for special events including longest drive, closest-to-the-pin, a putting contest and Las Vegas Circle.
