Taylor Yemm continues his goal of perfection. The Lincoln hurler picked up his eighth win of the season against Yerba Buena on May 4, running his mound record to a perfect 8-0 for the Lincoln baseball team.

The Lions are also perfect in the league this year. The 12-2, five-inning win over the Warriors helped them improve to 14-0 in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League and the 17-1 overall.

Lincoln took an early lead with three runs in the first against YB, but the Lions did the majority of their damage in the bottom of the third when they rallied for seven runs.

Brad Pickens belted out three of the 10 hits for Lincoln, including a double, and he drove in four runs.

The Lions also downed Overfelt on May 2, 6-2. Kirk Rose did the work on the mound for Lincoln with Yemm getting the save. Ryan Cannon also added his offensive skills with a pair of hits and an RBI.

The Lions were to face Andrew Hill on May 9 before traveling to San Jose Academy on May 11 and then over to Overfelt on May 12 for the final game of the regular season. All games begin at 3:30 p.m.

Lincoln softball

The Lincoln softball team struggled in the past couple of weeks with three straight West Valley Division losses.

Lincoln fell to Andrew Hill 8-3 on May 5, despite leading after four innings. Hill battled back to score six runs in the top of the sixth, which eventually led to the win. Bria Bohdanowicz took the loss on the mound for the Lions. She drops to 9-3 so far this season. The Lions fall to 10-3 overall and 9-3 in league with the loss.

Lincoln also fell to Silver Creek on May 3. Both Lincoln and Silver Creek fought hard. The teams each scored four runs in the second and one in the third before Lincoln pulled ahead with another run in the top of the fourth. But Silver Creek rallied in the bottom of the sixth for two more runs and the 7-6 win. McKenna Austin had two of the Lions' eight hits, including belting out a triple.

The Lions also fell to Overfelt 6-3 on May 1. The Lions knocked out six hits--twice as many as Overfelt--but they just couldn't produce a win. Bohdanowicz ripped three hits for the Lions.

Lincoln will face Wallenberg of San Francisco on May 11 in a 3:30 p.m. start before traveling to San Jose to face the Bulldogs in the final game of the season on May 12, 3:30 p.m.

Bellarmine lacrosse

The Bellarmine boys lacrosse team lost a close 10-9 decision to Robert Louis Stevenson in Peninsula Athletic League play. Sam Boyer was the leading scorer for the Bells with four goals. Michael Frederick, Shane Keller, Zac Mitchel, Michael Roberson and Matt Weigand each had one.

With the loss, the Bells fell to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in league, still plenty good enough for a playoff berth. Bellarmine, the No. 2 seed, was to play No. 4 Menlo-Atherton in the first round of the PAL playoffs on May 10 with the winner advancing to the finals on May 13 at Leland at 1 p.m.

The Bells dominated Woodside 19-2 on May 3. Weigand led the scoring this time with four goals, Boyer was right behind with three and Frederick, Chad Leto, Mitchel and David Ruiz each had two. Deven Carroll, Patrick Castagna, Keller and Eliot Williams had one each.

On April 28, Bellarmine fell to Piedmont Hills 11-5. Mitchel scored two of the five goals, while Boyer, Frederick and Weigand scored the rest.

April 26 was a good day for the Bells when they downed Leland 18-1. Castagna, Mitchel and Weigand all took lead roles in the scoring with three goals each, while Boyer, Pat Holland and Leto each had two. Keller, Alex Roux and Willams all had one.
