Giving Insight: Psychic/medium Andrea Morese is starting a new radio talk show on KEST Jan. 12. The Rose Garden resident uses tarot cards in her readings.

Psychic shares insight on the radio

By Mary Gottschalk

Andrea Morese is a psychic/medium living in the Rose Garden neighborhood, but you won't find any neon signs in front of her home or crystal balls inside of it.

Morese conducts her business by appointment only out of an office on The Alameda and takes a serious approach to being a psychic, which she defines as a person who "has the ability to read the information and energy of people, places and things through senses not commonly developed in the average person."

A psychic, she says, "acts as a receiver for subtle messages and energies often otherwise obscured by the frenetic pace of the conscious mind."

Morese's profile is about to become more public with the debut of a call-in talk show Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. on KEST 1450 AM.

Morese will co-host the hour-long "Life by Design" show with Veronica Raya, a life coach who lives in the East Bay. It will air on the second and fourth Fridays each month.

Morese says she's been aware of her psychic abilities all of her life.

"I believe we're all born with the same amount of psychic ability, but like any other skill or talent you're born with, you develop the skill."

Morese also believes, "If you don't use it, you lose it."

There was an acceptance of the metaphysical in her home, she says, although she had a traditional Italian-Catholic upbringing in the Boston area.

At the same time, she says the topic engendered a lot of fear and suppression.

"I remained interested in and studied metaphysical topics during my teens and 20s, but I certainly did not want to be a psychic.

"When it's undeveloped, it's undisciplined and unpredictable. The unknown is always scary."

Morese says she went first into the arts and music world, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree in music. After performing professionally and teaching voice, she switched to a real estate development career.

In the late 1980s, Morese says she started acknowledging her abilities and jokes, "I came out of the closet in the late '90s."

In 2000, she left the business world and started devoting her energies to her psychic career.

Around the end of 2002, Morese opened up the Meridian Health Center in San Juan Bautista, where she and her husband, Frank, were living at the time. There, she focused on natural health with yoga classes, psychic counseling and massage.

When the couple moved to the Rose Garden in 2005, Morese closed the business and became more involved with radio. In addition to appearing on "Seeing Beyond with Bonnie Colleen" on KEST, she also was a regular guest on Contact Talk Radio 1150 AM Seattle and appeared on the ABC Radio Network "Satellite Sisters" show.

This will be Morese's first time co-hosting a show, a concept she credits to Raya.

"I was working with Andrea as her client," Raya says. "We hit it off and ended up talking more as friends during my session with her. She knew I was a life coach, and I just put it out there: 'What if we did a radio show together?' And she loved the idea. She thought the pairing would be great."

Raya met Morese at a psychic expo when she was looking for someone to do a psychic reading.

"It was in instinctive thing," Raya says. "I went there to ask what was going to happen in the next couple of months, and Andrea pretty much nailed it with her psychic predictions. I was impressed and I felt we were connected."

Morese contacted KEST, and the show quickly came together.

Based in San Francisco, KEST's listeners are predominately 35 and older, faithful listeners, shop at health food stores and regularly attend self-improvement or personal growth seminars.

Morese says she believes the new show will offer more to listeners than past guest appearances where people would call in and she would do what she calls a "mini-reading."

Raya says listeners will get two different perspectives on life.

"I bring the grounding, the more practical side," Raya says.

"I'll offer them coaching right on the spot, asking them what do they really want. While I'm asking questions, Andrea can get a psychic reading from the energy of the caller.

"I'll offer the practical and goal setting, and Andrea will see what's happening. We'd probably say what you want to do, what your next steps are and come up with solutions in their best interests."

The first half-hour of each program will be a general discussion on a specific topic between Morese and Raya, and the second half will be for call-ins.

From past experience, Morese expects the majority of call-ins to be about relationships.

"When a psychic gets a call, it's usually something about relationships," she says.

Recognizing that, relationships are the focus of one of the two programs each month, evidenced by the schedule listed on the website www.lifebydesignradio.com.

The Feb. 9 show has a Valentine's Day theme and looks at "manifesting your perfect mate."

While Morese hopes the show will help people, she says she won't tell them what to do.

"An ethical psychic will never make a decision for you. Controlling a client by telling them what to do it not acting ethically," she says.

Rather, she says, a psychic is there to show "possibilities, probabilities and options."

"Life by Design" will air from 10 to 11 a.m. on the second and fourth Fridays each month on KEST 1450 AM. Andrea Morese's website is www.psychichit.com and she can be reached at 408.209.2278.
