California Highway Patrol officials say one woman was killed and six others injured, including two Saratoga residents, when the van they were traveling in went out of control and rolled over on Interstate Highway 280 in Belmont on Jan. 13.

A Highway Patrol spokeswoman said the 1992 Mazda MDV van was northbound on I-280 near state Highway 92 around 11 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control and the van overturned.

One female passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the van and pronounced dead at the scene.

The six other women suffered moderate injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment. They are identified as: Young Hwang, 42, of Saratoga; Ke Kang, 44, of Saratoga; Insook Jeon, 42, of Cupertino; Helsei Kim, 41, of Cupertino; Wunhee Park, 45, of San Jose and Won Kim, 46, also of San Jose.
