Carousel to Coaster Run
The annual Great America Carousel to Coaster Run returns to the local theme park Sept. 29, 8:30 a.m.
Participants will take off in 10K and 5K runs that begin and end in the parking lot on Great America Parkway and travel through the middle of the park.
The registration fee of $17 includes a race T-shirt for those who register by Sept. 18. The fee on race day is $20 and registration will be held 7-8 a.m. T-shirts will be available while they last.
The event benefits the Friends of Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department. For more information, call 984-3223.
Track and field clinic
Dave Johnson, a bronze medalist in the 1992 Olympic Games, will be among the instructors at a track and field clinic at Stanford University on Sept. 15, 9-11 a.m.
The clinic, to be held at Angell Field, is open to youngsters ages 12-18. The event is free, or $10 with entry to DECA-JAM and the Stanford-San Jose State football game.

Junior basketball
NJB Saratoga will hold sign-ups for the 1996-97 youth basketball season on Sept. 14 and 21, 10-11:30 a.m. each day, at Congress Springs Park in Saratoga.
The league season runs Dec. 1 through March 9 for players in grades 3-8, and the registration fee is $100 per player. The fee is $10 for players in grades 1-2 for a season that runs Jan. 5-Feb. 9.
League play is open to boys and girls, and the league's home court is at Saratoga High School.
Space in the league is limited, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call Matt Crosby at 867-3619.
Bicycle tours
The Clean Air Bicycle Challenge, co-sponsored by the Los Gatos Kiwanis Club and the American Lung Association, will be held Sept. 14 with tours starting from Los Gatos High School.
Tours feature loops of 20 miles, 50 kilometers, 100 kilometers and 100 miles. The registration fee runs $10-$20, and families are welcome.

Wildlife Run in Vasona
The annual Ron's Wildlife Run returns to Vasona Park in Los Gatos on Sept. 15. The event features a 10K run, a 5K walk and a 2K kids run. For more information, call 356-4945.
