Armed gunman robs bank, still at large
By Chris Vongsarath
An armed gunman got away with an undisclosed amount of cash after a bank robbery at Comerica Bank on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road on Dec. 11, police said.
Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the scene at approximately 4 p.m., just after the robbery had occurred, according to a press release. About a dozen cars were on the scene and a helicopter hovered above the area.
Security cameras were able to capture the gunman on tape wielding a black, semiautomatic handgun, police said. The suspect is described as a white male adult, approximately 40 years old. He is about 6 feet tall with a medium to husky build.
At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a ski mask, black baseball cap, gold-framed glasses, gray sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said. He fled the scene in a newer green or aqua-colored Ford Escort.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information regarding this case to call Sgt. Ken Binder at 408.808.4500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact the Sheriff's Tip Line at 408.808.4431.
