Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department
Felon in Possession of a Handgun/Felony--Jan. 21, 9:47 p.m., 600 block of Bellflower Court. Officers responded to an apartment regarding an argument between several males. While officers were at the scene, one of the involved parties exited the apartment with a handgun and was detained by officers. This person stated he took the gun from his cousin who is a convicted felon. The cousin denied this. Officers arrested the cousin for being a felon in possession of a handgun. He was transported to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety for processing and ultimately transported to county jail. The status of this case is cleared by an arrest. This case is being referred to the district attorney's office.
Fictitious Bill--Jan. 17, 3:30 p.m., 700 block of E. El Camino Real. Unknown suspect passed two $100 bills at Safeway.
Wiretap/Felony--Jan. 17, 10 a.m., 800 block Quetta Drive. On Jan. 14, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the victim was talking with a relative back east and she noticed a disturbance on her phone line. The next day, she noticed the disturbance again. She called Pacific Bell phone repair and the Pacific Bell technician found that her phone line had been tapped (re-wired) at the junction box on Hollenbeck Avenue.
Grand Theft--Jan. 17, 9:30 a.m., 1300 block of Rosalia Avenue. A local school authority locked $1,120.20 in the school cafeteria freezer. Four days later the authority returned to the freezer and discovered the money was gone.
Auto Burglary/Force--Feb. 6, 7:45 a.m., 1700 block of Noranda Drive. The officer responded to a residence on report of an auto burglary. Unknown suspect(s) used a "slim jim" device to force entry into the victim's lock vehicle. Suspect(s) removed a cell phone, AM/FM CD player, digital analyzer, 12-inch speaker without permission. The officer checked with apartments that overlooked the victim's vehicle, but no one was seen or heard. Suspect(s) fled in an unknown direction. Losses totaled $675.
Grand Theft/Jewelry--Feb. 5, 4:30 p.m., 1000 block of Colton Avenue. Victim reported she had an estimated $13,705 worth of jewelry taken from her residence without her knowledge or permission.
Auto Burglary--Feb. 5, 7 a.m., 300 block of Greenlake Drive. Suspect entered victim's car by prying the top of the driver door window back from the frame to access the lock. Suspect pried the dash apart, cutting wires to the alarm and stereo. Suspect pulled down the back seat to access the trunk and took a CD player and amplifiers. Suspect cut the wires to the subwoofer box but didn't get it out of the trunk. Victim's wallet was found approximately one mile away with cash missing. Losses were estimated at $2,050.
False Bomb Report--Feb. 1, 7:58 a.m., 1100 block W. El Camino Real. Unknown suspect telephoned a local car dealership and stated, "You have a bomb in your dealership." Suspect's voice was disguised and unrecognized.
Bomb Threat--Jan. 30, 5 p.m., 1000 of block E. El Camino Real. A bomb threat occurred at a local car dealership. Reporting party received a phone call from an unidentified female saying that a bomb was in the building and that it was going to go off.
