Six applicants will vie for the open seat on the Fremont Union High School District board.
Applying for the board vacancy are Otis Halliday, Michael Henningsen, Karin Costa, Hsing Kung, Karen Anderson and Alyce Hall. The deadline for filing an application was Feb. 28.
The board will interview the six applicants March 6 at 5 p.m. in the district office boardroom. The interviews will be open to the public.
The appointment will be made March 11 at a public forum, after which any resident dissatisfied with the board's choice will have 30 days to organize a petition for a special election.

He ran for a seat on the board in 1995 and lost by less than 500 votes. He worked as an engineer for Hewlett Packard for nine years, and started his own company, SDL, in 1983.
