    Kane wins two

    Becca Kane won back-to-back matches, but the best the De Anza Community College women's tennis team could manage was a split against Cabrillo and the City College of San Francisco last week.

    Kane won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles to lead the Dons to a 7-2 win over the Rams that evened De Anza's season record at 2-2.

    Jennifer Shem supported with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles and Danijela Tomic won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4. The two combined for a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

    Diana Keh won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Helen Ivanov won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6.

    Kane won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Kia Mjolsness won 7-6 (3), 6-1 at No. 2, but the Dons lost 5-4 to Cabrillo. Shem won 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and Aileen Chan won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.

    Wins by Mjolsness at No. 2 singles, Tomic at No. 4, Keh at No. 5 and Ivanov at No. 6 sparked the Dons to a 6-3 win over Cañada. Kane and Mjolsness teamed for a win at No. 1 doubles and Ivanov and Tomic won at No. 3 doubles.

    Adult sports

    The city of Sunnyvale is currently holding registration for its adult basketball, softball and volleyball programs.

    The cost is $560 for the 10-game spring basketball league, $380 for the seven-week softball season and $250 for the eight-match volleyball campaign. Each entry fee includes any playoff games, and there is a $10 fee charged for each non-resident.
