Almost $100,000 raised for local primary schools

Regency Centers, operator and developer of grocery- anchored shopping centers, recently completed a fundraising contest raising $99,734 at Loehmann's Plaza in Sunnyvale. The funds were distributed to Nimitz and Stocklmeir elementary schools in Sunnyvale, and also to Collins Elementary. Loehmann's Plaza kicked off the program on March 12. It encouraged shoppers to save receipts generated from Loehmann's Plaza and deposit them into specially marked mailboxes located at the corner center and all participating school offices.

Music and Market performances still happening in town

The summer music series and Farmer's Market are still under way in downtown Sunnyvale and will run until the end of August. The festivities are each Wednesday night from 5 to 8 p.m., along Murphy Avenue. The Joe Ferrari Big Band will perform on Aug. 22, and Dead Posers Society will perform on Aug. 29. Music begins at 6 p.m., but the Farmer's Market opens for business at 5 p.m. Also available are a selection of wines from local wineries and beers from local microbreweries. The event is co-sponsored by the Sunnyvale Downtown Association and the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce.
