Show quizzes the candidates
Two candidate forums will be held in October for candidates running for the Sunnyvale City Council. Both forums are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at Sunnyvale City Hall, 456 West Olive Avenue. The forums also will be televised on Channel 18, the City's cable television channel.
The first forum will focus on business and economic issues, and will take place Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. It is co-sponsored by the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce and other local business associations.
A second forum, co-sponsored by the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Chapter of the League of Women Voters and the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, will discuss general community issues and is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
SCS goes into car biz with a $25 Mercedes
Tickets are still available for Sunnyvale Community Center's raffle to win a new Mercedes-Benz. Tickets are $25 apiece or five for $100. Only 2,500 tickets will be sold.
"They are really good odds," said Nancy Tivol, director of SCS.
Tickets can be bought at SCS until 5 p.m. on Sept. 26 or at the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 27. The winner will be drawn on Sept. 27 at the Farmer's Market. Call SCS at 738-4321.
