Hall of Fame Classic
San Jose State University baseball stars of the past Rich Guardino (1974-77) and Chris Pedretti (1978-79) will be the inductees during ceremonies at the 12th annual Spartan Baseball Hall of Fame Golf Classic Oct. 24 at the Santa Clara Golf Course.
The tourney begins with registration at 11 a.m., a putting contest at noon and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The cost for the best ball scramble is $140 and includes a cart, green fees, tee prizes, lunch and dinner. The cost is $45 for the dinner only. The reservation deadline is Oct. 13.

Dons are rolling
The De Anza Community College men's and women's soccer teams each pushed their records to 2-0-1 in the Coast Conference in action last week.
Kara Grondzik knocked in three goals and added an assist to lead the De Anza women to a 9-0 win over Foothill. Jodie Walters (Fremont) supported with a couple of assists, and Lisa Perasso had a goal and an assist.
Michelle Kandah drilled a pair of goals to spark the Dons to a 5-0 win over Hartnell.
The Dons also battled Ohlone to a scoreless tie, pushing their conference record to 2-0-1 and their season mark to 4-0-1.
The De Anza men knocked off Cabrillo 3-1 and edged Foothill 1-0 to improve to 2-0-1.
Welch tourney
The annual John Welch Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 12 at Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course. The entry fee is $100, with proceeds going to Santa Clara County Special Olympics, and the registration deadline is Oct. 1. For more information, call Charlie Welch at 650-967-5245.
