Art center holds pottery sale

The Creative Arts Center Gallery is holding its annual pottery sale Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an opportunity for Sunnyvale residents to purchase works of art created during art classes at the center. It is a popular event, so people are encouraged to come early. The gallery is located in the Sunnyvale Community Center at 550 E. Remington Drive. For more information about the sale, call 730-7758.

Chamber, League holds city forum

The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce and the League of Women Voters will host an open forum for candidates running for Sunnyvale City Council. The topic for the evening will be general city issues, and audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.

The forum is open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at 456 W. Olive, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The forum can also be viewed on Channel 18, the city's cable channel.

Correction

A photo caption in the Oct. 1 issue of The Sun misidentified the company representatives helping to fill bags with food for Sunnyvale Community Services. The representatives were from Philips Semiconductors, one of SCS's biggest contributors.

October big month for local theater

The Sunnyvale Community Center Theatre will host a variety of performances during the month of October. The Sunnyvale Community Players will be performing The Sound of Music through Oct. 12. The Ugly Duckling will be performed by the California Theatre Company Oct. 13-24 and Rumplestiltskin, Oct. 27-31. For tickets or more information, call 733-6611.
