Hitting Camps
San Jose State University will hold its annual Spartan Baseball Winter Hitting Camps Dec. 15-16 and Dec. 22-23 for players ages 9-17 at Blethen Field (across from Kelly Park and Municipal Stadium).
San Jose State head coach Sam Piraro will direct the camp and his assistant coach and hitting instructor, Dean Madsen, will be the key instructor at the camp. San Jose State coaches Robert Berns and Ryan Brucker will also work as instructors along with former Bellarmine star Mike Wright, currently a catcher at the Triple-A level for the San Francisco Giants, and other San Jose State players.
The cost is $75 per camper, and camps will include individualized instruction during cage drills, hitting drills and on-field hitting.
For more information, call 408.924.1287 or e-mail Madsen at deanmadsen@prodigy.net.
Looking for Local Team Information
Preseason questionnaires and letters requesting rosters, schedules and information on winter teams have gone out to coaches of all high school and junior college sports for the winter season. Only a few of the questionnaires have been returned.
Coaches are urged to respond to our request by fax (408.354.3917), mail (P.O. Box 65, Los Gatos, CA 95031) or email (dispar@aol.com) as soon as possible so that we can begin coverage. Those coaches who did not receive the letter and questionnaire should contact Dick Sparrer at 408.978.9665 or at one of the numbers or addresses above.
